The multi-year sponsorship will educate community members on how to live a healthier lifestyle and raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
The American Heart Association (AHA) and Cullman Regional have announced a three-year sponsorship to promote the American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement.
Cullman Regional is dedicated to reducing the number of cardiovascular-related deaths which impact our community annually. This continued commitment works toward the Alabama Hospital Association’s 2020 Impact Goal of improving the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by the year 2020.

Cullman Regional is a 145-bed medical center owned and operated by the Health Care Authority of Cullman County which serves more than 175,000 residents in a six-county area. Cullman Regional has extended its commitment to improving the health of the community over the past several years through its screening outreach program. This program allows community members to get free screenings for Blood pressure, Total Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Triglycerides and Glucose which have been shown to impact the cardiovascular health if not controlled properly.
The AHA’s Healthy for Good is a revolutionary movement to inspire Americans to create lasting change in their health and lives, one small step at a time. The approach is simple: Eat smart. Add color. Move more. Be well. As a Healthy for Good sponsor, Cullman Regional will strategically work with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about this platform, as well as the warning signs of cardiovascular diseases and stroke and prevention education.
Cullman Regional will officially kick-off an awareness campaign for the month of February and Heart Month. Events will kick-off with a National Wear Day Red Luncheon on Friday, February 2 at Loft 212 from 11:30 am – 1 pm. The event will feature a healthy eating expo and free health screenings followed by a gourmet luncheon, inspiring survivor story and interactive physician panel. National Wear Red Day is a nationwide movement to raise awareness for heart disease – America’s #1 killer of women. Other awareness and celebration events will follow throughout the month of February.
In addition, Cullman Regional will participate in the following Association activities:
- Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart – These national education and fundraising events are designed to help children in elementary school develop heart-healthy habits while being physically active and learning the importance of community service.
- Cullman Heart Walk – The Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family environment. Combining fitness and philanthropy, this annual walk raises funds to combat heart disease and stroke, the No. 1 and No. 5 killers, respectively, of Alabamians. The first Cullman Heart Walk is expected to be held in fall 2018.
“We are looking forward to bringing these programs to Cullman to further expand our efforts in treating heart disease and stroke,” Clements said.
