Every year in the U.S., more than 230,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. It is the second most common cause of death among women, claiming the lives of more than 40,000 women each year. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to recognize our team in the Women’s Diagnostic Center. This team provides various services including mammograms, bone density scans, breast biopsies and breast ultrasounds.

Our recent facility makeover created new amenities for patients, including spa-like robes, a hot beverage station and registration and scheduling in the Women’s Center. We’ve also added a state-of-the-art 3D mammography machine for precise diagnostics, early detection and better care.

Our Imaging Center now has the ability to do breast MRI procedures. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast — or breast MRI — is a test used to detect breast cancer and other abnormalities in the breast.  A breast MRI is most often used to screen for breast cancer in women thought to have a high risk of the disease. A breast MRI may also be used to assess the extent of breast cancer.

Our team takes pride in having more than 50 years of experience and is happy to provide patients and family members with additional information and educational resources.

Hours for the Women’s Center are Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call today to schedule your yearly mammogram at (256) 737-2270. Physician referral is not required for annual screening mammograms, walk-ins are welcome.  For more information about services offered in the Women’s Diagnostic Center, click here.
