The Central Sterile team plays a vital role in preventing a surgical infection through the sterilization of instruments. In honor of Central Service Week, we would like to recognize our Central Sterile team. This team processes instruments in three areas: decontamination, assembly and sterilization. Central Sterile’s role includes sterilization of all surgical instruments for perioperative services and various hospital departments.

Our newly renovated Central Sterile Processing department creates a safer surgical environment by reducing infection risk, improving surgery turnover time and improving patient outcomes. It also allows for future growth of more advanced surgical procedures.

Our Central Sterile team takes pride in providing the OR with all instruments in a timely manner adequately plans for each day to ensure all instruments are sterile and ready for all cases. Our technicians receive hands-on orientation for 4-6 months in the department in order to receive proper training for each area of Central Sterile. Their knowledge of all procedures and regulatory guidelines is critical to the care and outcome of our surgical patients.
