Medical Laboratory Professionals Week recognizes the important role medical laboratory professionals and pathologists play in healthcare. Laboratory professionals often work behind the scenes, and few people know about the critical testing they perform every day.

Cullman Regional Laboratory Services includes 43 team members which include medical technologists (MTs), clinical lab technologists (MLTs), specimen processors, phlebotomists, clerks, reference techs and more. The lab team provides urinalysis, DNA testing, drug testing, blood alcohol level testing, microbiology, hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, phlebotomy and more. Most of Cullman Regional’s MTs and MLTs are cross-trained to work in multiple departments. The Cullman Regional Lab team works with top-of-the-line instrumentation and requires ASCP certification.

Many team members actively participate in the community outreach events through the Cullman Regional Community Screening Outreach Team. The lab screening team provides on-site testing for total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides and glucose. Results take about 5 minutes and each participant is able to leave with results in their hand.

Cullman Regional’s Lab team provides accurate, timely, cost-effective and integrated testing for patients, physicians and other professionals in our community and region. Services are available 24 hours, 7 days a week for hospital patients. The Cullman Regional Outpatient lab is located on the ground floor of Professional Office Building 1 and provides services Monday – Friday, 7 am until 5 pm.
