Cullman Regional offers a one-day babysitting certification class for boys and girls ages 11 – 16. This course encourages participants to become responsible, safe sitters when they are home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. The instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use manikins to practice rescue skills like choking rescue and CPR. The class supplies each student with a Safe Sitter® Information & Supply Kit. Lunch and snacks are provided.
Skills acquired during class include:
- Safety Skills: prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies
- Life & Business Skills: ability to screen jobs, discuss fees and greet employers
- First Aid & Rescue Skills: learn skills such as choking rescue and CPR
- Child Care Skills: learn tips to manage behavior that will help them stay in control of themselves and the children in their care
