Cullman Regional welcomes Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Phillip Kravetz, MD, to the Cullman Regional Medical Group. Dr. Kravetz is a board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon with a specialty in Spinal Surgery and earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He was a fellow in Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard University before completing his post-doctoral training in Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He decided to specialize in Spinal reconstruction and completed a fellowship with the Institute for Spinal Disorders at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Kravetz has had a passion for and an expertise in minimally invasive spinal procedures that allow for quicker recovery compared to traditional surgical techniques. He was one of the earliest adaptors of these new techniques starting in 2001 and has traveled all over the world teaching hundreds of other spine surgeons how to do these new procedures. Whether it’s a simple herniated disc or adult scoliosis, Dr. Kravetz uses these techniques to minimize the trauma of surgery leading to much easier and faster recoveries.
As an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, Dr. Kravetz diagnoses and treats debilitating neck and back pain conditions, including:
- Degenerative disc disease
- Spinal stenosis
- Foraminal stenosis
- Bulging and herniated discs
- Failed back syndrome
- Facet disease
- Adult Scoliosis
“I am excited to join the team at Cullman Regional and to offer orthopedic spine services to the community,” Dr. Kravetz said. “I enjoy teaching my patients about minimally invasive techniques. If they understand their spine problem and about the surgery itself, they are more likely to have a good outcome and be more comfortable.”
Dr. Kravetz is a native of Detroit. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, fitness, art and travel.
Dr. Kravetz is currently accepting new patients and has joined the Cullman Regional Medical Group.
