Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other abnormalities within the body.

In honor of Nuclear Medicine Week, we would like to recognize our Nuclear Medicine staff. This team of Nuclear Medicine Technologists works closely with radiologists, cardiologists and nurses to provide high quality images to determine the function of specific organs. The Nuclear Medicine team takes pride in having a staff with more than 60 years of experience in performing nuclear medicine exams. Cullman Regional also houses one of the only nuclear medicine facilities in the area to have a dual-head camera, which shortens imaging time and can accommodate patients that weigh up to 500 lbs.

Our Nuclear Medicine Department is open Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on-call after hours and weekends. A physician referral is required to schedule an appointment. For more information about Imaging Services provided at Cullman Regional, visit here.
