Hartselle Health Park ER awarded Accreditation from The Joint Commission
Cullman Regional’s freestanding emergency department in Hartselle has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® by demonstrating compliance with its performance standards. According to The Joint Commission, the Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
As a new hospital service, Hartselle Health Park ER underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with Hartselle ER standards spanning several areas including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and rights and responsibilities of the patient.

Hartselle ER’s recent Accreditation by The Joint Commission is one of multiple recognitions for high performance in healthcare quality measures that demonstrate how Cullman Regional prioritizes quality care.
The hospital ranks nationally as a Top 10% Performer in several quality metrics by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and consistently beats state and national benchmarks for heart attack and stroke related care. Additionally, Cullman Regional is one of only five hospitals in the state with zero central line associated bloodstream infections in the most recent reporting period.
Since opening in January, Hartselle ER has cared for more than 6,000 patients from south Morgan County and surrounding communities. The 24/7 facility has the same capabilities as hospital-based ERs including diagnosis and treatment of heart attack, stroke, breathing difficulties, severe abdominal pain, seizures, severe injury and allergic reactions.
“We’ve put together a strong and experienced care team and we’ve seen almost every kind of patient condition,” said emergency physician Dr. Ryan McMorries. “As a new facility the added benefit is we offer short wait times, which makes the ER experience much better for patients.”
After the initial survey, Hartselle ER will continue to be evaluated by the Joint Commission every three years as part of Cullman Regional’s overall survey.
