Volunteer Programs

Summer Junior Volunteers

High school students in the Cullman area have the opportunity to learn more about health care careers with Cullman Regional’s unique summer volunteer program for students ages 15 to 18.

The Junior Volunteer Program takes place each June and July for six weeks. Volunteers are placed in various departments throughout the hospital, based on career and departmental interests. Not only do junior volunteers provide a valuable service to the staff, but they also gain experience and exposure to potential career paths while performing a valuable community service.

Junior volunteers must be 15 to 18 years old and:

  • Have completed the 10th grade
  • Have reliable transportation to and from their volunteer assignment
  • Attend mandatory orientation and complete employee health tests including TB skin test
  • Wear a uniform (khaki pants and white shirt)

Adult Volunteers

Adults 18 years of age and older may serve in various areas throughout the hospital, including Guest Relations, Medical Day Hospital, One Day Surgery, Marketing, Community Education and more. Adult volunteers perform numerous non-patient-care duties including, but not limited to, greeting and directing guests throughout the facility and assisting with events or completing administrative office work.

Volunteers must be able to:

  • Serve at least four hours weekly at a minimum
  • Complete a personal interview at the Volunteer Office
  • Agree to a one-year commitment

Year-Round Student Volunteer Program

Due to popular demand, Cullman Regional offers a limited number of year-round volunteer opportunities for high school students interested in nursing careers.
