Providing Quality Care for Your Newborn at Cullman Regional
At Cullman Regional, we understand that welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most special moments. Whether your baby is healthy or needs a little extra support, we’re here to offer expert care in a comforting, family-centered environment.
What Are the Different Levels of Nursery Care?
The American Academy of Pediatrics has established these levels to make sure babies receive the right type of care based on their needs. A Level I Nursery is for healthy newborns who have no complications and do not require any level of complex care. Most babies in this level stay with their mothers for 2-3 days before going home to follow up with their own pediatrician. A Level II Nursery is where we care for infants with mild health issues, such as breathing problems, jaundice, or feeding challenges. These babies might need a little extra help for a few days but often recover quickly. Levels III and IV are for babies who need advanced care, typically provided in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), which are equipped to handle serious health issues and premature births.
What Makes Cullman Regional’s Nursery Special?
We’re proud to offer Level II Nursery care for infants with minor health concerns. This keeps newborns close to their mothers, minimizing the stress and cost of traveling to another city. It also promotes stronger bonding while reducing the need for transfers to other facilities, as many health issues can be resolved quickly on-site.
Our care model features a team of six neonatologists and several neonatal nurse practitioners who deliver care and support around the clock. This hybrid model ensures neonatologists are on-site three days a week, with 24/7 availability via secure, HIPAA-compliant telemedicine for the remaining days, giving your baby the best care possible.
Our unique combination of in-person and telemedicine care allows us to provide efficient, cost-effective care to families in our community. It also means fewer babies need to be separated from their parents due to transfers, so your family can stay together during this important time.
At Cullman Regional, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your newborn in a nurturing and supportive environment. Whether your baby is healthy or requires extra attention, our team is here to ensure that your family can stay close to home and feel confident throughout your journey. With our expert staff, advanced care options, and commitment to family-centered care, we strive to make every moment with your baby as special and stress-free as possible.
